1. About the clinic
OpenPalp is a focused private palpitations service operated by London Cardiology Clinic. The service is provided by Dr Mahmood Ahmad, Specialist in Cardiology (SAS), MRCP(UK), GMC registration number 6071047.
OpenPalp is a single-pathway service for low-risk palpitations in adults. It is not a general cardiology clinic. It combines a free clinical consultation with two optional add-ons: a resting 12-lead ECG, and event-triggered home heart-rhythm monitoring for one week using the KardiaMobile device, supported by a self-guided lifestyle booklet.
You can verify Dr Ahmad’s GMC registration at any time at gmc-uk.org/doctors/6071047.
2. Appointments and booking
Appointments take place on Tuesday mornings (9:00–12:00) at SF Studios, Hampstead. A short walk from Hampstead.
Bookings are made online and are free to make — no payment is taken online. The clinic appointment is free. Any optional add-ons (12-lead ECG or home rhythm monitor) are paid for in clinic on the day.
A booking confirmation will be sent to the email address you provide. Please check your spam folder if it does not arrive within a few minutes.
3. Fees
The OpenPalp pathway is priced as follows:
- Clinic appointment: free. This covers the focused cardiology consultation, cardiovascular examination, risk stratification, and a written clinical summary you can share with your GP.
- 12-lead ECG: £49 (optional). A standard resting 12-lead ECG performed on the same visit, with Dr Ahmad’s written interpretation.
- Home rhythm monitor: £70 (optional). This covers loan of the KardiaMobile for one week of event monitoring and the self-guided OpenPalp lifestyle booklet. You review your own recordings and may email Dr Ahmad with any concerns.
There are no hidden charges, no follow-up consultation fees, and no referral fees. All fees are stated in pounds sterling and inclusive of VAT where applicable.
4. Cancellation and rescheduling
Booking is free and no payment is taken online, so cancelling carries no charge or refund. As a courtesy, please let us know if you can no longer attend so the slot can be offered to someone else.
- Cancellation: email [email protected], or use the cancellation link in your booking confirmation email.
- Rescheduling: you may reschedule your appointment free of charge — use the reschedule link in your booking confirmation email, or email us.
Any payment for an optional add-on (12-lead ECG or home rhythm monitor) is taken in clinic only if you choose to proceed on the day, so there is nothing to refund for a cancelled or missed appointment.
5. Clinical scope and limitations
OpenPalp is an exclusively focused service for low-risk palpitations in adults. The following services are not offered at this clinic:
- General cardiology assessment
- Echocardiography or cardiac imaging
- Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
- Assessment of breathlessness, chest pain, or heart murmurs
- Exercise stress testing
- Emergency or urgent cardiac care
If any investigation not available within this pathway is clinically indicated, Dr Ahmad will advise you clearly and provide guidance on appropriate NHS or private referral pathways.
This service provides a clinical opinion based on the information available at the time of your appointment. It does not replace your GP, NHS cardiologist, or any other treating clinician.
6. Patient responsibilities
To make the most of your appointment and to enable safe, accurate assessment, you agree to:
- Provide an accurate and complete account of your symptoms, medical history, and current medications at the time of booking and during your consultation.
- Inform the clinic of any changes to your health between booking and your appointment.
- Call 999 or attend A&E immediately if you develop chest pain, syncope (fainting), severe breathlessness, or any symptom that feels like an emergency — and not wait for your OpenPalp appointment.
- Return or arrange return of the KardiaMobile device at the conclusion of the one-week monitoring period, as instructed.
7. Data protection
Your personal and clinical information is processed in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We collect and use your information only to provide and administer the OpenPalp service.
Your data will not be sold to third parties. With your explicit consent, a copy of your clinical summary will be sent to your GP. Full details of how your data is collected, stored, and used are set out in our Privacy Policy.
8. Liability
Dr Ahmad practises in accordance with GMC Good Medical Practice guidelines and holds full professional indemnity insurance for private practice.
Our service provides a clinical opinion based on information available at the time of assessment. While we exercise reasonable care and skill, we cannot guarantee specific clinical outcomes. Our liability in respect of any claim arising from the provision of this service is limited to the fees paid by you for the relevant appointment.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by negligence, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised when changes are made. If you have a booking confirmed before any update, the terms in force at the time of booking apply to that appointment.
